About Us
The principal purpose of the Tobacco Workers’ Union is to advance, promote and preserve the rights and interest of employees in the Tobacco Industry through meaningful engagement of the employers in all negotiations, grievances handling procedures, disciplinary procedures and all related remedies involved thereafter.
Tobacco Workers Union is driven with desire to set a system which accepts different and divergent views from its members for mutual benefit of all stakeholders in the Tobacco Industry
The Union reveres a pluralist concept which in essence pronounces that all who work in an organization have a legitimate interest in its management and it is its mandate to uphold the concept.
In recognition of the inherent nature of any Organization which is invariably multi-structured and competitive and is bound to tensions and competing claims, the Union is moved with a vision to bring sanity and proper management of conflicting interest for the benefit of all the organizations in the Industry.
The Union embraces the idea that conflicts are both rational and inevitable and they can be used for mutual benefit for all players involved if managed in good faith.
The Union believes conflicts exist to provide a highly organized and continuous form of expression for sectional interest and their management is a necessary evil.
